Amendments to the constitution in Mali
Parliament in Mali has backed constitutional changes aimed at giving greater powers to the president before elections next year in which the present incumbent, Amadou Toumani Toure, has vowed not to run. Amendments to the constitution will boost the powers of the president who will get prerogatives to set the government policy and will have the right to sack the prime minister.
